This week has been really busy but good.
I had a lot of schoolwork due – one of my projects was for my conversation class. It was a timeline of my life basically. You had to show pictures of you throughout your life with explanations. I didn’t have a lot of pictures with me here because I didn’t think I would need some baby pictures in France – ha, and so I asked Quentin, the 18 yr. old boy that is part of the family I am staying with to draw for me. He is amazing at drawings. He can just whip them up really quick as well. He wanted me to march around the kitchen singing O Canada, and then he would agree to draw for me! Haha. His parents were telling him he would draw for me anyways but just to please him I did march around the kitchen for about 5 seconds and sang the beginning to O Canada (did I mention I had to salute as I walked?!) hahaha. What a ridiculous scene! He was, of course, in stitches and then proceeded to draw me as a child with a stinky diaper, a young girl who sang and then a Canadian Mountie girl who was saluting, and lastly a lawyer. It was really funny and his parents were laughing so hard at his creativity. I loved them and used them on my project along with the other photos I did have. My poster was a hit. The entire class loved it and it was obvious there was a lot more effort put into my poster than any of the others. I had a big picture of the Savior in the middle of my poster because it is the biggest part of my life. My class all asked, “Who is that?” I was really taken back when they asked that because I really thought most people knew who Jesus Christ was. Even if they don’t know anything about him, I thought they would at least know who he is! I proceeded to explain to them why he was important to me because they all asked. It was really cool because I was able to bear my testimony in French to them about why I loved Him and why He was important in my life! My teacher was really impressed and after told me great job! I was really happy. The other students seemed to really respect me.
Other than school, I have just been getting really excited to Christmas and for Dane to come. I am actually now just waiting in the train station for him. He should be here in 45 minutes. I am not really nervous because it doesn’t even seem real. Haha.
It has been raining a lot here and I have been really cold. My nose feels like its constantly running. It was hilarious today because as I was walking I thought to myself…hmm I should go buy a little thing of Kleenex. Well no lie, within 5 minutes 7 people marched by with these HUGE bins of Kleenex!! They were giving them away! I was like SWEET!! Heavenly Father loves me! Haha.
I am really enjoying staying with the Garon Family. They are so nice and they help me with my French all the time. I feel a lot more relaxed now about learning it and I am not trying so hard and funny enough- I feel it is easier to speak now! Go figure eh! Her and I sat this morning for almost 2 hours and talked about the gospel and about experiences she has had in her life. I really love her and feel blessed to know her and her family. Quentin is like a replacement of Scott now that he has left on his mission. He teases me and is constantly mocking me. He’s nice though.
I cut my hair yesterday. As I explained in French to the best of my ability what I was hoping she could do, I realized my vocabulary was not up to par with respect to haircutting terms!! Then after she started and I saw how much of my hair was on the ground I started to panic a little and thought to myself, “What was I thinking getting my hair cut when I can’t even speak the same language as this person!”
Lucky for me, it looks fine and hair grows back anyways!!
I am going to Germany right before I go back home to spend some time with the Crandalls and I must say I am really thrilled!!!
It’s almost one month until Christmas!
Bisous! xx.
Have fun with Dane....can't wait to someday meet him....when do you get home?
